MovieClaw Cloud
Terms of Service
Last updated: October 4, 2026 (draft)
Welcome to MovieClaw Cloud (this website, together with the accounts, instance claiming, and official push service it provides; the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to these terms. To learn how we handle data, see our Privacy Policy.
The MovieClaw software itself is software that you deploy yourself. It's governed by its own license (the MovieClaw License), not by these terms. These terms only cover the Service.
1. The Service
We provide accounts, instance claiming, and the push relay for the official MovieClaw app to admins of MovieClaw instances. The push service is currently free. An instance has to be claimed before it can use the official push relay.
Why you need an account: the official MovieClaw app only accepts notifications signed with our Apple push key. We keep that key private, because anyone who had it could send notifications to every MovieClaw user's device. So pushes to the official app can only go through the official push relay, and every instance has to be approved (claimed) by an admin who's signed in to the Service. That way every push can be tied to a specific instance, we can shut down an instance that's being abused, and you can disconnect yours at any time.
Push is optional. If you don't use the Service, everything else in MovieClaw still works. The push relay is open source under the Apache-2.0 license: if you build the app with your own Apple Developer account, you can pair it with a relay you host yourself, without the Service.
2. Your account
- Only instance admins need an account. Please keep your sign-in methods (your Google or GitHub account, or your email) secure.
- Instances you approve with your account send push notifications in your name. Only approve connections you just started yourself from your instance's settings, and deny any pairing code you don't recognize.
3. Fair use
- Push notifications may only be sent to devices that have signed in to your instance. Don't use them for bulk messaging, marketing, or harassment.
- Don't try to get around limits (for example, by splitting one server into several claimed instances), and don't attack, probe, or abuse the push relay or the Service's APIs.
- The current limits are 1,000 pushes per instance per day and 100 per device per day. Limits may change, and we'll announce any changes through the service notices shown in your instance's settings.
4. Your instances and content
- MovieClaw is self-hosted software. We don't provide, store, or distribute any movies or shows, and we can't see or control what's on your instance.
- You deploy and manage your instance yourself, and you choose, and are responsible for, the trackers, download clients, and related accounts you connect to it. You're responsible for the content on your instance and what it does, and you must follow the laws where you live, respect copyright, and comply with Apple's applicable terms.
- Push content is end-to-end encrypted. We can't see it and aren't responsible for it.
5. Intellectual property and trademarks
- The design, text, and graphics of this website belong to MovieClaw. The source code of the MovieClaw software is available under its respective licenses.
- Plex, Emby, Jellyfin, Infuse, Sonarr, Radarr, Prowlarr, Jackett, Bazarr, Overseerr, Jellyseerr, ChatGPT, Claude, WorkBuddy, Cursor, and other names and trademarks mentioned on this website belong to their respective owners. They're mentioned only to describe compatibility or use. MovieClaw isn't affiliated with or endorsed by any of them.
- Film titles, posters, and images shown on this website are the property of their respective rights holders. Most demo screens feature open movies released by the Blender Foundation and others (CC BY). The few frames taken from public trailers are shown only to demonstrate playback.
6. Copyright complaints
The Service doesn't host any movies or shows. If you believe something on this website infringes your rights, email [email protected] with proof of your rights, the content in question, and where it appears on this website. We'll look into it and remove or address it promptly.
7. Handling abuse
- When we receive a report, we review counts and logs by instance ID and push trace ID. If we confirm abuse, we may disconnect the instance or disable the account.
- If notifications from an instance are bothering you, you can also sign out of that instance in the app. Its notifications then can't be decrypted on your phone and only show a generic message.
8. Changes to the Service and termination
- We may change or suspend some features. Before shutting down the official service, we'll give advance notice and explain what happens to push.
- The push relay is open source under the Apache-2.0 license, and you can host it yourself at any time (you'll need to build the app with your own Apple Developer account; see section 1).
- You can stop using the Service at any time by deleting your account under Account.
9. Disclaimer
The Service is provided “as is.” We do our best to keep it running, but we can't guarantee it will be uninterrupted or that every notification will arrive. Notifications are ultimately delivered by Apple and may be delayed or lost if a device is offline, because of system limits, or for other reasons. To the extent permitted by law, we aren't liable for indirect losses arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service.
10. Changes to these terms
If we make significant changes to these terms, we'll announce them on this website and update the date at the top of this page. By continuing to use the Service after the changes take effect, you agree to the updated terms.
