What is MovieClaw?
MovieClaw is an AI media server you run on your own hardware. It handles subscriptions, downloads, matching, metadata, and playback in one place, with a web app, an iPhone app, and a built-in AI agent.
FAQ
Is MovieClaw free? Is it open source? What hardware does it need, which trackers and download clients work, is there an Android or TV app, and where does your data live?
Install
Install with Docker
Get MovieClaw running in about five minutes with a single docker-compose.yml, on Linux, Windows, macOS, or any NAS with Docker.
Install on Synology
Set up MovieClaw on a Synology NAS with Container Manager in DSM 7.2, entirely from the GUI.
Install on QNAP
Set up MovieClaw on a QNAP NAS as a Container Station 3 application (Docker Compose).
Install on Unraid
Add MovieClaw from the Unraid Docker tab with Add Container, field by field.
First-time setup
What to do after installing: add a library, connect your download client and trackers, set up subscription rules, then add an AI model and family members if you like.
Hardware transcoding
Use an Intel or AMD iGPU, an NVIDIA GPU, or an Apple Silicon Mac to transcode, so formats your player can't handle still play smoothly.
Features
AI agent, MCP, and CLI
Tell MovieClaw what you want in plain language, or let outside agents like Claude Code and Cursor drive every feature through MCP and the mclaw CLI.
Apps and players
Watch your MovieClaw library in the web app, the native apps for iPhone, Android, Apple TV, Android TV, and Mac, or Infuse and VidHub.
