| Where | How |
|---|---|
| Desktop and mobile browsers | The built-in web player. Just open your MovieClaw address |
| iPhone | The native MovieClaw app (sideloaded, see below), or Infuse and VidHub |
| Apple TV | The native MovieClaw app (TestFlight public beta), or Infuse |
| Android phones and tablets | The native MovieClaw app (APK from GitHub Releases, see below), the web app, or a Jellyfin client |
| Android TV and boxes | The MovieClaw Android TV app (early test build), or a Jellyfin client |
Watch progress syncs across the web, the app, and Infuse, so you can pick up anywhere.
Web
It plays files directly whenever it can and only transcodes what the browser can't decode, telling you the cost first. On a slow connection it suggests a lower quality, and it reconnects on its own if the connection drops. It works well in mobile browsers too.
iPhone app
A native app with Infuse-level playback: Blu-ray remuxes and 4K HDR play fine, and it starts fast even on a slow connection away from home. It needs iOS 26 or later.
- Download
MovieClaw-iOS-unsigned.ipafrom GitHub Releases. - Install it with AltStore, SideStore, or Sideloadly using your own Apple ID.
- Open the app, enter your MovieClaw address, and sign in with your account.
Apple TV app
The native Apple TV app is available as a TestFlight public beta and requires tvOS 26 or later. Visit the download page for the invitation and installation steps. Accept the invitation on an iPhone or iPad using the same App Store account as your Apple TV.
Infuse, VidHub, and other players
MovieClaw speaks the Jellyfin API, so players can add it as a Jellyfin server. In Infuse:
- Go to Settings → Add Files → Jellyfin (the wording varies a little by version).
- Enter your MovieClaw host's IP, with port
3000(or whatever you changed it to). - Sign in with your MovieClaw username and password.
Infuse and VidHub have been tested on real devices: browsing, direct play, and progress sync all work. Fileball and SenPlayer use the same API but haven't been tested one by one. Install Infuse on Apple TV and follow the same steps to watch on your TV.
For automatic discovery on your LAN, add the port "7359:7359/udp" to docker-compose.yml. Broadcasts don't always reach a container on a bridge network, so typing the address is the most reliable. Skip this if Jellyfin or Emby already runs on the same machine, since the ports would clash.
Android
Android phones and tablets have a native MovieClaw app. Download MovieClaw-Android-arm64.apk from GitHub Releases, install it, and connect it to your MovieClaw server to browse, search, subscribe, and play. Android TVs and boxes get a separate Android TV app (MovieClaw-AndroidTV.apk). It's an early test build, and playback support varies by device. You can also use the web app in your browser, or a Jellyfin client for Android. v0.28.0 fixed a connection issue with Findroid, though it hasn't been formally tested.
Keep your existing Jellyfin or Emby
Don't want to replace Jellyfin or Emby? Let MovieClaw handle subscriptions, downloads, and organizing, and have it tell your media server to refresh after each import. Add MEDIA_SERVER_URL (your Emby or Jellyfin address) and MEDIA_SERVER_TOKEN (its API key) under environment in docker-compose.yml.
