First-time setup

The first time you open http://<host-ip>:3000, you'll create an admin account. Then work through the steps below. After the first three, new episodes start arriving on their own. Menu names are shown with the Chinese label you'll see in the interface.

1. Add a library

Go to Library → Add library (媒体库 → 添加媒体库) and set the root path to the container path, the right-hand side of the colon in your docker-compose.yml (e.g. /media). Scanning starts right away. Existing files get matched and get metadata, and anything uncertain waits for your confirmation.

Besides movies and TV, there are "Other" libraries for home videos (no matching or renaming) and photo libraries (a month-by-month timeline). By default MovieClaw doesn't rename or move files. Organizing by naming template is opt-in, under Settings → Metadata & organizing (刮削与整理).

2. Connect your download client

Under Settings → Download clients (下载器), add qBittorrent or Transmission. If the client sees different paths than MovieClaw (for example, it runs in another container), set up a path mapping here.

3. Connect your trackers

Under Settings → Trackers (资源站点), pick the sites you have accounts on and paste in a cookie or API key. Or install the MovieClaw browser extension to sync site cookies automatically. You can download it from the web app. The built-in sites are Chinese private trackers. If yours isn't listed, open a site request on GitHub.

4. Subscription rules and auto-import

• Settings → Subscription rules (订阅规则): set your preferred resolution, source, and subtitles, plus when to upgrade. A dry run shows which step would get stuck.
• Settings → Auto-import (自动入库): watch download folders so finished files from any source get filed into your library.

Then find shows and movies in Discover or search, and hit subscribe.

5. Optional: connect an AI model

The AI agent and AI subtitles use a model you bring. Add a provider under Settings → Model providers (模型接入). OpenAI, Alibaba Cloud Model Studio, DeepSeek, Zhipu, and Kimi are preset, and any OpenAI-compatible endpoint works. Then pick a default under Settings → AI (AI 设定). Everything else works without one. 6. Optional: family members

Under Settings → Members (成员), create accounts for your family and choose which libraries each person sees, whether they can request and search, and an age rating limit. They sign in with their own account on the web, in the iPhone app, or in Infuse. See Apps and players.
